About This Role
Textron System, Electronic Systems is seeking talented Electrical Engineers (EE) to design and develop complex hardware solution for a variety of technical problems. Electrical Engineers engage in a variety of technical projects of moderate scope including schematic capture and circuit card design, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware and firmware design and development, and embedded microcontroller design and development. Additionally, EEs are expected to create, maintain and follow Interface Control Documents (ICDs), specifications and test procedures for circuit card assemblies and system integration.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Solving complex problems that may require research and analysis of alternatives involving many factors.
· Working independently to determine and develop innovative solutions.
· Contributing to and/or ensures the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
· Working with schematic capture tools such as Mentor Graphics DxDesigner.
· Designing VHDL code for FPGAs (Altera/IntelPSG and/or Xilinx).
· Developing code for embedded microcontrollers (Atmel, Microchip, etc).
· Writing interface control documents, specifications and test procedures for designs.
· Reporting status including schedule progress and problems/issues.
· Working closely with hardware in a lab setting, and debugging using lab equipment (e.g. Spectrum Analyzer, Digital Oscilloscope).
You will be part of highly skilled team and need to interface with other team members, including those of other engineering disciplines. Additional job duties could include systems level requirements analysis, design, and proposal input. You may also be involved in system testing for products you’re a part of and aid with fielding and/or training of the customer.

The candidate should be comfortable as a cognizant designer of complex printed circuit boards utilizing micro-processors & controllers, high efficiency power supply design, analog signal conditioning, sensors, and RF components. The Aero-Thermal Engineering Analyst will be responsible for generating aerodynamic characteristics, aero-thermal heat transfer environments and thermal responses over a wide range of flight condition, from low speeds up through hypersonic flow fields associated with flight vehicles in the Strategic Missiles Business Line. The position requires some level of expertise in the generation/use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) models, MATLAB and Ansys Fluent Computational Fluids Dynamics (CFD) software tool, as well as an interest in acquiring a working knowledge of Textron Systems legacy aero-thermal computer codes. The analysis techniques used, as well as the compiled results, will be summarized in presentations and detailed design analysis reports.
Responsibilities
· Serve as aerodynamic analyst generating aerodynamic characteristics (pressures, loads and aero coefficients) in the strategic missiles and reentry vehicle area.
· Serve as aerothermal analyst generating aero heating environments to support thermal analyses of flight vehicles in the strategic missiles business line.
· Serve as thermal analyst generating the thermal profiles for exterior/interior structures and payloads, resulting from the environments developed in the flow fields surrounding flight vehicles over a wide range of flight conditions.
· Serve as thermal analyst performing steady-state and/or transient thermal analyses that include various methods of heat transfer, such as conduction, convection, and radiation.
· Utilize a combination of commercial of the shelf (COTS) tools (Siemens NX, Ansys Fluent, MATLAB) and Textron developed software tools to generate the aerodynamic, aerothermal and thermodynamic characteristics described above.
· Define recommended changes to improve the performance/efficiency of aero/thermodynamic design features.
· Summarize results and design application techniques during the above activities via presentations and design analysis reports.
· Up to 5% travel may be required.

This position will be part of the Systems Integration and Test (SIT) Engineering team focusing on supporting the Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC) Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), next generation hovercraft program. Primary duties would be supporting the rollout of production crafts into testing; troubleshooting a variety of multi-discipline, complex issues throughout testing and systems integration; driving continuous improvement through feedback to design/quality/manufacturing and root cause analysis (RCA); and supporting fielded crafts in concert with our Navy customer.
You will be part of highly skilled, multi-discipline engineering team and, as such, will need the ability to effectively interface and communicate with other team members and across engineering disciplines. This also extends out to the broader team of pilots, test conductors, technicians, and other engineering groups. You will have the opportunity to travel and to contribute to the effectiveness and reliability of systems that are saving lives and protecting our warfighters.
Responsibilities
- Review engineering system designs: models, drawings, design intents, and specifications for assessment of systems
- Support the Navy customer to maximize uptime and minimize recurrence of issues.
- Create, maintain, and communicate thorough technical documentation on all efforts
- Analyze and maintain interface control documents and other technical documents required to troubleshoot the craft
- Familiarize and analyze applicable MIL-STD, MIL-DTL, MIL-HDBK, and similar standards documentation related to SSC design

About This Role
A Sr Welder – Training Lead (Aluminum), under the direction of a Production Supervisor, leads and directs the individual’s training and development related to aluminum welding within MLS manufacturing processes and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts the aluminum welding training of new hires and transfers based upon the needs of the department to which the individual will be assigned
- Adheres to MLS manufacturing requirements, quality standards and core competencies in the preparation and delivery of quality instruction
- Maintain training curriculum while continually improving and developing the training program as necessary
- Pace instruction and vary delivery to meet different learning styles
- Provide appropriate and timely feedback to training participants
- Maintains clean, effective, and professional learning environment
- Maintains accurate records of attendance, progress of participants and reports the same in a timely manner to the Training Manager
- Completes weld certification documentation in coordination with Quality Control and delivers completed paperwork to weld engineer
- Stays current with MLS welding technology, processes, and equipment

Specialist in Structural and Welding Inspection and defect identification through x-ray inspection (RT) method to determine adherence to standards, specifications, and drawing requirements. Prior experience in aluminum welding inspection preferred, with ability to shoot, develop, and interpret film across a variety of material thicknesses and geometries. Accompanying Visual and Dye Penetrant Inspection experience required. Experience with MIL-STD or AWS acceptance criteria required. Marine experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Approach assignments with a high ethical resolve, ensuring reputable standing with our onsite customers.
- Capable of discerning rejectable weld defects by grading film in accordance with given acceptance criteria.
- Ability to implement NDT inspection methods in accordance with written procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and process plans.
- Visual examinations by means of instruments, gauges, jigs, templates, or other measuring devices to include nondestructive test methods to ensure adherence to standards, specifications, drawing, etc.
- RT Method Experience to include:
- Conducting weld inspections through VT/PT as a prerequisite to RT.
- Laying out film in a large craft or large weldments where both sides of the object being x-rayed are not accessible at the same time.
- Setting up and operating x-ray tube equipment.
- Developing film using an automatic film processor.
- Grading film to a given acceptance criteria.
- Tracking repair status.
- Implementing penalty and tracer shots as required upon initial failures.
- Recording results in a timely manner.
- Generates Quality reports, completes Inspection Check Lists, nonconformance documents, calibration reports, and other Quality documents/records as applicable to the specific area assigned.
- Adheres to all safety requirements, departmental instructions and TMLS Policies and Procedures. Leads Radiation Safety compliance within the RT team.
- Interface directly with all levels of the organization, suppliers, and customers, as appropriate.
- Comfortable being audited on NDT Process adherence by Government customer.
- Performs any and all other duties assigned by management.
- Willingness to work an off shift to limit plant wide radiation exposure risk. This is either 2 am to 10 am or aligned with a standard second shift.
