My Textron Story: Meet Megan

September 6, 2024

As the Senior Manager for the Talent Development team, Megan is responsible for the different processes and initiatives used to execute Textron Systems’ talent strategy. Whether it’s training, career programming, growth opportunities or anything related to employee experience, chances are that Megan has had some hand in the planning process. With years of experience within the Human Resources (HR) organization, Megan has valuable insights to help support the growth and development of Textron Systems employees. However, her Textron story starts years earlier.

Megan began with Textron when she joined the HR rotational program at Bell in Fort Worth, Texas, where she spent her first rotation working with Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) and then moved to work with the Global HR team in her second rotation. Following her completion of the program, Megan came on as an HRBP for Bell and remained there until she transferred to TRU Simulation & Training in Goose Creek, South Carolina, where she assumed the role of an HRBP for that site.

After a few years with TRU Simulation & Training, Megan went back to Bell in a business partner capacity and supported the commercial sales and marketing teams, aftermarket and commercial programs and the finance organization. However, it was not long before a role on the Textron Systems Talent Development team opened up, bringing Megan to Hunt Valley, Maryland, where she has worked for the past three years.

Since moving to Textron Systems, Megan has been able to use her insights and expertise from across the Textron enterprise to best support the employee experience and provide growth and development opportunities to employees across the Textron Systems segment.

“The skillsets you develop as you move between business units really help you see different perspectives,” Megan said. “Having those multiple experiences allowed me to take a step back and really take a look at whether our processes are effective."

On top of moving geographically, Megan has also had the opportunity to learn about and become involved in the different cultures of the areas in which Textron has locations.

“Foundationally as HR, we do the same things no matter which business unit we’re at, but you have to understand the culture and challenges faced within that specific business to ensure the HR strategy aligns with the business,” Megan said. “So, by stepping into new business units, you quickly develop skills in adaptability and ambiguity, and it teaches you how to ask good questions.”

Throughout Megan’s time with Textron, she has had the opportunity to see several products come to life.

“My favorite memories from my time at Textron are centered around the products that we have designed and built, and the fact that I’ve been able to see them in real life,” Megan said. "Being able to see the Bell V-280 and 505 aircraft fly overhead, flying in a helicopter at Bell, seeing a Ship-to-Shore Connector flyaway with Textron Systems and getting to fly a simulator at TRU are just a few of my favorite memories with Textron.”

Soon, Megan will have the opportunity to create more memories across Textron as she takes on a new role at Bell. To learn more about opportunities with Textron, visit Textron.com/Careers.
