Aerosonde Takes the Sea by Flight
The sea can be a harsh environment. Proven capable of withstanding this variety of elements through more than 250,000 flight hours, Aerosonde™ Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS) has been a reliable maritime asset for to the United States Navy. The Aerosonde SUAS has a wide range of features and field-tested track record make it the ideal choice for shipboard operations. In 1998, it was the first and smallest of its kind to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
With a small footprint, Aerosonde enables operational efficiency with no ship alterations, the easy-to-use, single launch and recovery turntable system makes the SUAS ideal for constrained land and maritime operations. Aerosonde has the capability to support a variety of mission sets including sea-based intelligence, wide area search and rescue, automatic identification system, and surveillance and reconnaissance operations. In addition to helping military concept of operations, the system also supports various civil and commercial uses in the oil, natural gas and agriculture industries. Aerosonde is also a valuable tool for natural disaster response at sea, as it was the first unmanned aircraft to fly into the eye of a hurricane in 2007.
Aerosonde is equipped with a purpose-built, heavy fuel Lycoming EL-005 engine and day/night full-motion video capability. This SUAS has an endurance of more than fourteen hours, and an open architecture capable, with sufficient power and space, of supporting a wide range of payload options, depending upon the customers requirements. It’s compact and versatile nature makes Aerosonde the ideal SUAS for sea-based operations where operational footprint and operational flexibility are paramount.
