Meet Sarah - Contracts Team
What are your primary responsibilities on your team?
I have been a specialist supporting the contracts department since 2018. I currently work supporting the Air Domain. I manage the contracts and provide a variety of support on a number of programs, including the Afghan Trainer program, the Joint Systems Integration Lab (JSIL) program, and the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Instruction and Mission Support (UAS IMS) program. I’ve also worked as a member of proposal capture teams, assisting in developing our response to many competitive and sole-source opportunities.
What do you like about working on this team?
There is no shortage of variety on the contracts team – there are always opportunities to step up, learn something new, and continue to grow into the role. The team is very supportive and collaborative, and everyone is always open to talking through a new problem that needs to be tackled. The work is challenging and often unpredictable, but ultimately these aspects are what make it rewarding.
What advice would you give to a new hire joining this team?
You won’t be expected to know everything right off the bat, so ask a lot of questions. Take advantage of any training opportunities. Foster your curiosity for any aspect of work at Textron Systems, beyond just the responsibilities of your precise role. A broad understanding of how each functional area works together to make Textron Systems successful helps immensely when working on the contracts team.
