Man-Portable Aircraft Survivability Trainer

MAST

Overview

The Man-Portable Aircraft Survivability Trainer (MAST) is a long-range ultraviolet (UV) stimulator capable of testing aircraft electro-optical (EO) sensor suites up to 5 km (3.1 mi). Designed to operate as a pilot training tool, MAST comes equipped with day/night video recording and precision GPS instrumentation for after-action review of simulated engagements.

  • Long Range up to ~5 km (3.1 mi)
  • Integrated Virtual Seeker to Replicate Real-World Engagements
  • Day/Night Video Recording
  • Precision GPS Coordinates (Azimuth and Degree-from-Horizontal During Launch Sequence)
  • Long Battery Life (~8 hrs per Charge)
  • Provides after-action video to pilot crews
  • Is Capable of Replicating the Visual Effects of an Infrared (IR) Threat-Based Weapon
  • Cost-effective Stimulation of UV-based Aircraft Survivability Equipment Systems for Realistic Aircrew Training Events

MAST can simulate missile warning systems utilized by the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and allied forces. The optical simulator incorporates a light-emitting diode (LED) array for accurate stimulation and effective nighttime use. Its integrated virtual seeker replicates the difficulty of acquiring and launching a man-portable air defense system (MANPADS).
