Meet Jason - UxS Team
What are your primary responsibilities on your team?
My primary responsibilities vary dramatically based on program and vehicle, but generally include designing, testing, and improving mechanical parts and integrating electrical components. The focus of each design effort (low weight, durability, lead time, etc.) varies based off the vehicle and application. Currently, I am designing and prototyping electrical interface boxes routing hybrid electric drive train power on the RIPSAW® M5. In the past, I have designed suspension components for various land vehicles, and test fixtures and electrical enclosures for advanced unmanned air vehicles.
What do you like about working on this team?
In the 2 years I've been on the UxS team, I have not stopped picking up new skills or experiencing new facets of mechanical and systems engineering. For someone like me just starting their engineering career, I find it extremely valuable and rewarding to be responsible for these varied tasks and challenges.
What advice would you give to a new hire joining this team?
As with any job, be open to learning new skills and meeting new people. The UxS team has no shortage of new, fast-paced work requiring collaboration and learning on the job.
