Textron Systems’ Unmanned Systems Business Names Wayne Prender Vice President, Ground Control Technologies
HUNT VALLEY, Md. — JUNE 17, 2014 — Textron Systems’ Unmanned Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) business, announced today the appointment of Wayne Prender as vice president of the company’s Ground Control Technologies organization.
In this role, Prender will lead a multimillion-dollar business that develops, manufactures, fields and supports interoperable unmanned command and control systems, remote video terminals and other technologies to streamline the delivery of information across the battlespace.
During more than seven years with the company, Prender most recently served as program director within the small/medium-endurance unmanned aircraft systems group, driving growth and leading program execution with responsibility for engineering, research and development, production and logistics support. Before joining the company, he served as team leader for technology analysis and agreement formation at TRSG in Gaithersburg, Md., supporting technology transfer initiatives with U.S. Department of Defense laboratories.
Prender was an officer in the U.S. Army, and was awarded the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star for his actions during deployment. He holds a master’s degree in business and technology management from the University of Maryland University College, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Saint Louis University.
