Textron Systems Introduces Rapidly Deployable TSUNAMI™ Autonomous Maritime Surface Vessels

TSUNAMI™ Vessel Leverages Decades of Multi-Domain Experience and U.S. Commercial Shipbuilding Capability for Scale, Maturity and Capacity

HUNT VALLEY, Md., JANUARY 13, 2025 – Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced today the introduction of its TSUNAMI™ family of autonomous maritime surface vessels. Designed to meet the needs of the U.S. Department of Defense and its allies for a readily available, versatile fleet of multi-mission uncrewed assets to team effectively across the fleet, the TSUNAMI family is a low-cost, rapidly deployable solution that pairs Textron Systems’ 40+ years of multi-domain autonomous vehicle experience with the capacity and maturity of the U.S. commercial shipbuilding industry’s manufacturing and design capabilities.

Utilizing Brunswick Corporation’s reliable, high-performance vessels, Textron Systems developed the TSUNAMI family of products with its proven CUSV® based autonomy control system. Fueled by gasoline for ease of logistics, maintenance, and affordability, the TSUNAMI vehicle family also provides payload capacity of 1,000 pounds/453.6 kilograms. The current 24-, 25-, and 28-foot variant hulls are in high volume production today and deployable up to Sea State 4 with ranges varying between 600 nautical miles to over 1,000 nautical miles with a proven path to scale to both new vessel sizes and configurations, as well as to significant production volumes.

“Textron Systems understands how to design, integrate, field and support autonomous systems across the air, land and sea domains, because we are unique in having done that,” said Senior Vice President, Air, Land and Sea Systems David Phillips. “Combining this expertise with the capability, demonstrated capacity, and affordability of Brunswick’s commercial shipbuilding know-how allows us to provide our DoD and allied customers with powerful maritime force strength at speed and at scale.”

Textron Systems is the originator of the CUSV which was successfully adapted to become the Navy’s first small USV program of record. With thousands of operational hours, Textron Systems currently leverages its experience as a leading systems integrator of critical and complex multi-mission payload capabilities for small USVs.
